We are Docusign: Jacqui Gillet
Our “We are Docusign” blog series places the spotlight on employees from a variety of departments and provides a peek into what it’s like to work at Docusign. This week we sat down with Jacqui Gillet, Head of Commercial Sales Development at Docusign APAC to chat about her day-to-day work, what she admires about her colleagues and something none of her co-workers know about her.
Q: What do you do at Docusign?
I’m Head of Commercial Sales Development and manage two sales teams who look after inbound and outbound prospecting.
Day to day my role includes people enablement, coaching and motivating my team. This is not just in their current role but to progress them forward within their sales careers.
Q: What is the best thing about working at Docusign?
The stand-up desks… kidding! It is by far the people, we have a great culture of teamwork and healthy competition in Docusign.
Q: What do your friends and family think you do at Docusign?
Sit in management meetings all day and stare at excel spreadsheets, luckily for me my role is much more diverse than that.
Q: What is the best advice you can give to somebody starting a new job in your department at Docusign?
Be hungry to learn and be self-motivated to succeed.
Q: What traits do you most admire in your colleagues at Docusign?
I admire my team’s resilience and drive to succeed. The role that they play is pivotal to the success of our company and being on the front line talking to customers all day isn’t always easy.
Q: What traits do you think your Docusign colleagues most admire in you?
It is hard for me to answer on behalf of my colleagues but I believe strongly in not only having group time, but also 1:1 time with each of my team members to ensure development and individual success.
I’d like to think that my dedication to my team’s career development and success is a trait that my colleagues would admire in me. I have also heard my patience doesn’t go unnoticed.
Q: What is something most of your colleagues at Docusign don’t know about you?
From a young age I wanted to be an actress and I danced competitively for over five years. Although I no longer have a strict dancing regime, I can still tear it up on the dancefloor.
Q: What is your favorite snack from the Docusign kitchen?
The kitchen is deadly for me, I could literally spend all day in there if I had a better metabolism. If I had to choose just one, it would be the carrots and hummus... ok I really mean popcorn!
Q: What is the best project you ever worked on at Docusign and why?
The great thing about my role is that every day is a new project for me. A recent activity that I collaborated with Marketing on was our Discovering Docusign event for SMBs at the Basement in Sydney. I was privileged enough to host a lively customer panel conversation with some amazing leaders in the SMB space, who are transforming their companies and industries with the use of Docusign.
Q: If you were not working at Docusign and could do anything in the world, what would you be doing/do next?
If money was no issue, I would go travelling around the world.
Q: What is the secret for you to happiness?
Balance and staying active.
