Docusign turns 20 in 2023. In a milestone year like this, we could be tempted to simply reflect on how far we’ve come and how much we’ve grown. But that’s not our style. Which is why, at Momentum Sydney 2023, we shone the spotlight forward. At our annual customer and partner event, we revealed what’s next in the world of agreements and how we’re helping our customers prepare for a bright new future.

Here, we’re delighted to share some of the big announcements. We’ve also included snippets from the keynote so you can see these announcements in action.

Generating agreements gets easier

Think about all the times you’ve been handed a paper or PDF form and you think, “Do I really have time for this?” Complex forms — which often require you to fill in the same information multiple times — can be an endless source of frustration. Not any more.

As Docusign’s Senior Director of Consulting, Michael Phillips, demonstrated, new updates make it incredibly easy to generate and complete agreements. And the latest web forms are just the beginning, with new features like pre-filled forms, embedded forms and orchestration capabilities on the roadmap.

Verifying identities securely and remotely

When it comes to high value or high risk agreements, proving the identity of signers is a critical step in mitigating the risk of fraud. In the past, ID checks had to happen in person. It was a drain on the customer experience, and time-consuming for all involved. What if you verify a person’s identity, securely and reliably, without having to show up in person?

Now, you can. With Docusign’s new biometric capabilities, all it takes is a live selfie and the AI-enabled ID verification process does the rest.

Orchestrated review and analysis of agreements

B2B contracts can be complex and time consuming, particularly the review stage. Docusign has introduced an orchestrated and deeply integrated experience to keep your agreement cycles on track, with the added benefit of pre-built workflows so you don’t have to start from scratch.

For example, as shown in Michael’s demonstration in the video below, if changes are made to a certain section of a managed service agreement, an automated workflow can notify the right person and take them straight to the amended section of the contract that needs approval.

Pushing the limits of what’s possible with agreements

The final big announcement at Momentum Sydney was made by Mangesh Bhandarkar, Group VP and Head of Products. First, Mangesh reflected on the fact that Docusign has been trusted with the largest set of agreement data in the world — sitting at a staggering six petabytes or so. This massive set of data, when combined with powerful advances in AI, creates new opportunities for building out-of-the-box capabilities with AI.

Enter Docusign AI Labs. As Mangesh explained, “This new program brings together innovation and technology with change-making customers and partners to push the limits of what’s possible with agreements.”

New capabilities and experiences are being added every month. For example, the platform can generate a concise, natural-language summary of a complex document in one click — pulling out all the relevant contract information plus an easy-to-understand explanation of the contract intent. It can turn complex legal jargon into a simple explanation. And it can perform semantic search using conversational queries.

Reimagining the intelligent agreement process

The innovations described above are just the beginning of a new journey for Docusign. As the presenters at Momentum Sydney 2023 showed, we’re on a mission to change the way you agree.

And, by unlocking agreement data and combining it with agreement intelligence and orchestrated workflows, we’ll get there faster than you can say, “Sign on the dotted line.”
