Rescue, Revive, Rehome: Streamlining animal rescue efforts with Docusign
Learn how Docusign is helping to revolutionise operations, empowering the team to help more animals in need efficiently and effectively.
In the world of animal rescue, every second counts. Thousands of animals find themselves in desperate need of homes, love, and care each day around the world. Fortunately, there are organisations like Rescue, Revive, Rehome (RRR) making a significant impact in the lives of these animals.
Just over four years ago, Siobhan Mikaere and Rowan Elliot met by chance in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand – connecting to arrange the rehoming of an abandoned cat. Discovering they were both equally passionate about helping animals in need, the duo saw an opportunity to make a real difference – and RRR was born.
As a not-for-profit animal rescue charity, RRR relies on fosters, volunteers, donations and fundraisers to provide a home for animals in need of a safe haven. After initially focusing on rescuing cats, it became clear very quickly that all types of animals were in need, so RRR branched out to start helping any animals that weren’t native species. From cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, horses, even tortoises, RRR’s purpose was to save as many animals as possible, while also working with humans to improve the attitudes and sense of responsibility towards animals.
We spoke to Ronnie McAllum, Team Leader at RRR to learn about the team’s impactful work and how Docusign is helping to revolutionise their operations, empowering them to help more animals in need efficiently and effectively.
Building a charity from the ground up
Starting a not-for-profit from scratch was always going to be a big investment of time and energy. The team knew once they were operating as a charitable organisation, accurate record keeping was critical.
“When I came on board, one of the first things I did was start putting systems in place. We had no central administration hub, so I implemented a shelter management software system. From there, I started looking at how we would manage contracts, processes and procedures. A key part of that was finding a digital agreement solution to help streamline the fostering and rehoming process.”
The challenge of paperwork in animal rescue
When Ronnie first started working with RRR, the fostering and rehoming process was completely manual. This not only hindered the rescue process but also made it difficult for RRR to focus on their core mission: saving and rehoming animals.
“We were sending forms via email, then the adopting family would need to print it off at the other end, fill out the forms, scan the document and email it back. It just seemed so time-consuming and silly! I was passionate about being able to make this process easier for everyone involved – both the RRR team and the fosterers.”
Helping all animals – great and small
With Docusign, RRR now offers a user-friendly, fast, and secure way to handle the documentation around adoption, foster care, volunteer onboarding, and more.
For Ronnie, there are plenty of key wins, but the time saving measures, simplicity and consistency of Docusign are the standouts.
“Docusign removes a number of fiddly steps in the fostering or adoption process, so we’re now breaking down barriers for people, resulting in more animals being taken care of.”
“We’re also able to reduce the administrative workload on our volunteers and staff, which means we can focus on more of the hand-on rescue work.”
"Sustainability and the ability to reduce our environmental footprint is important to us at RRR. With Docusign, we’re making significant strides towards paperless operations, minimising waste, and contributing to a greener future."
RRR’s partnership with Docusign has been a transformative step in their mission to save, revive, and rehome animals. By embracing digital solutions, they have streamlined their operations and can now focus on what truly matters – providing loving homes and a brighter future for countless animals.
