Insights from our customer panelists at Momentum Sydney 2024

Summary4 min read

Our customer panel at Momentum Sydney 2024 featured leaders from Bupa, Canva and Movember, who generously shared how Docusign has helped enable business transformation.

Packed with insights and plenty of laughs, customer panels are always a highlight at events like Momentum. And the panel at our Sydney 2024 event didn’t disappoint, with inspirational thought-leaders from Movember, Bupa and Canva sharing the valuable ways Docusign has helped them save time, money and resources.

Hosted by Docusign’s Anthony Slater and exploring the topic of ‘Unleashing business transformation’, we heard from Tom Hyde, Head of APJ & China, Sales & Success, Canva; Kristie Athanasi, Delivery Manager, Healthcare Management, Bupa; and Cat Dell’Aquila, Portfolio Manager – Young Men’s Health, Movember.

ICYMI, here are some of the highlights from their session.

At Movember, Docusign is so much more than a signature

Cat has a rewarding but challenging job at Movember. In her role, she manages ‘Movember Ahead of the Game’, which uses sport to engage with young men and encourage them to talk about mental health. With over 57,000 participants around the world, their previous method of capturing consent to participate wasn’t working. Not only were paper-based forms time-consuming to print out, hand out and then collate, but young men were potentially missing out on the program because they lost their form at the bottom of a sports bag.

“It’s not just a contract — it’s a life that’s potentially changed. If someone misses an email or doesn’t get a paper form, they can now access the Docusign web form, sign on the spot and then take part in the program. With 96% of our Docusign forms signed on a mobile device, it removes the barriers and gets more people signed up. It’s a really easy, seamless journey.”

At Bupa, Kristie is a Docusign change champion

When Kristie first started at Bupa, just before Covid hit, she was managing contract governance in their dental business. On one of her first days, she came across a contract with a jpeg image of a scanned signature on it. “It made my eyes bleed,” she said. “I knew it was time for change.”

Luckily, the wider business was already using Docusign so it was a quick and easy process for her to bring the dental team up to speed. And since then, she has passionately championed Docusign adoption across the business.

“Like with any large organisation, our business units work in silos. My challenge was educating other teams and helping them work out where Docusign could support them. For example, we’ve fixed data integrity with Docusign Web Forms, and it’s been a game changer. It all goes straight into core business systems, accurately and automatically, which has transformative effects across the business,” said Kristie.

“My role is to identify gaps in processes. I ask all the dumb questions, and once it’s been explained, I can challenge the status quo, and show how a Docusign template can improve that agreement.”

At Canva, Docusign adoption has grown hand-in-hand with the company

And then there’s Canva, an incredible Australian success story that has experienced meteoric growth since its launch in 2013. “Our company growth has gone hand-in-hand with our Docusign growth. We started using it in 2019, treating it as a pilot in our legal department, and since then have embedded it across sales, marketing, procurement, HR and more. It really helps us to scale, and what started as a small acorn has grown to be about 500 users in the company,” said Tom.

To get the most out of Docusign alongside investments in other platforms, Tom is a passionate advocate for Docusign integrations. “We use the salesforce integration on our sales side, empowering our reps to work exclusively in Salesforce and save so much time and energy. Everything is so much quicker with this integration.”
