What do you do at Docusign and what do you enjoy most about your role?
I am an Account Executive and look after the Small to Medium Business (SMB) market in the APAC region. My role involves bringing Docusign to new businesses and organisations by closing deals from start to finish.
I love working in the Asian market. It’s an awesome challenge, particularly with the language barrier. Fortunately, I get to work with various partners, from Hong Kong, Indonesia and Vietnam and see customers in their own country. I get to learn their traditional ways of doing business which I find fascinating.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in Sales at Docusign?
I studied marketing throughout my time at university and I’d heard about an opportunity at Docusign in sales. The marketing and sales team work very closely together at Docusign so it’s great to have exposure to both. I never thought I would pursue a career in sales, but I’m really enjoying it surrounded by good colleagues and mentors, good pay and solid career progression.
What made you decide to work at Docusign?
Originally the job was referred by a friend. He spoke highly of Docusign and the opportunities they offer including career progression. eSignatures seemed like a relatively simple software but the fact that all companies should be using it made it seem like the perfect product for me to start my sales career with. Now we’ve launched the Docusign Agreement Cloud, there’s more products to sell, keeping things fresh!
What is the best part about working at Docusign in Sydney?
It would definitely be the people I work with! I have made some great friends and love the positive vibe in the office. We are liked minded and always looking for ways to grow, which means not hesitating to ask for help.
We have people that have come from great tech businesses like Salesforce and LinkedIn who have a wealth of knowledge so it’s great to grab advice from them. Also, of course, they’re fun and always keen for a chat or to grab a Friday drink to blow off some steam.
How is working at Docusign different than other companies you have worked at?
Extremely different! Career progression is one that stands out. We have a solid process to ensure training and development is a number one priority and we always have our career goals front of mind.
There is of course other heaps of great benefits. I could seriously go on forever.
What does the work of your life look like to you?
Every day I speak to people about how they can improve their business. I’m not bugging them with the latest insurance plans but sharing how they can reduce costs and save time. I’m also helping to save the trees!
Overall, the work of my life is knowing that the effort I put in will be rewarded, not just with remuneration but with career progression. I hope that doing the work of my life will open up avenues to work overseas and share the experiences I’ve had in Australia with other Docusign offices.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about applying for a role at Docusign?
If you are enthusiastic and motivated, you will do fine. You have inundated support from your colleagues and especially the managers to succeed – so apply yourself and the opportunities will come to you. For a first experience/role in sales, understanding the product is ideal in order to get the hang of the processes and lingo involved.
Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.
I have an uncrackable back, I enjoy getting injections before going overseas and I have skydived twice. Can you guess which one isn’t true? ?
