Cookie Notice
Last Updated: October 4, 2024
Docusign uses cookies and other similar tracking technologies such as pixels and web beacons (collectively, “Cookies”) when you use any of the Docusign websites, including docusign.com that link to this Notice (our “Websites”). This Notice explains what Cookies are, how we use them, and your choices about them. We use the information we collect about you through Cookies in accordance with our Privacy Notice.
Please note that this Cookie Notice does not cover our use of cookies, if applicable, within the Docusign Services (as defined in our Sites and Websites Terms and Conditions). Our use of cookies within the Docusign Services is subject to separate terms where applicable.
1. What Cookies Are and How We Use Them
Cookies are small text files that are automatically downloaded to your browser or device when you visit a webpage. Cookies can perform a variety of functions, including recognizing you when you return to the Websites, letting you navigate between webpages efficiently, remembering your preferences, enabling certain features of the Websites, securing the Websites, helping us understand and analyze how you use the Websites, and generally helping us improve your experience of the Websites.
We and our vendors use Cookies for these and other purposes. We and certain third-party advertising technology vendors (e.g., ad networks and ad servers) and related analytics vendors also use Cookies to deliver online ads to you (including on third-party websites) that are more relevant to you and your interests and to measure the effectiveness of such ads. As part of how they work, Cookies can send data to us, to the party that provides the Cookie, and/or to other parties as relevant, depending on the purpose of the Cookie.
2. Types of Cookies We Use
We use the following types of Cookies.
Strictly Necessary Cookies. These Cookies are required for our Websites to operate. For example, these Cookies allow you to log in to your account or use a shopping cart. They also help us protect the security of the services, authenticate accounts, and detect and fight spam. The Websites cannot function without Strictly Necessary Cookies, and you cannot opt out of them through our cookie management tools discussed below. If you choose to block or disable these cookies through your browser tools, the Websites may not function properly.
Functional Cookies. These Cookies allow our Websites to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. For example, these Cookies can remember your login information, preferences (e.g., preferred language), and settings, so you do not have to re-enter them every time you use the Websites. These Cookies can also remember if you have used our Websites before, limit the number of times you are shown a particular online ad, provide a consistent user experience when we test different features, and enable you to view videos on the Websites. If you disable these Cookies, certain features of the Websites may not be available or function as intended.
Performance Cookies. These Cookies collect information about usage of the Websites, including by counting Website visitors and tracking their actions on our Websites, such as what links are clicked and what pages are viewed most often. These Cookies help us collect and analyze usage information so we can better understand how the Websites are used; engage in auditing, research, and reporting; take steps to prevent fraud; and provide certain features to you. We may also use these Cookies in our emails to you to capture data such as when you open the email and whether you click any links in the email.
Targeting Cookies. These Cookies record visits and actions taken on the Websites to help advertise the Websites and Docusign’s various services to you, including to make the online ads you see more relevant to you (called “targeted online advertising”). We and certain third-party advertising technology partners (such as ad networks and ad servers) and related analytics providers may use this information to make our Websites, content, and online ads more relevant to you and your interests. Targeting Cookies also limit the number of times you see a particular online ad and help us measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns.
Social Media Cookies: These Cookies are used when information is shared through a social media sharing button or “like” button on our Websites, or when you link your account or engage with our content on or through a social networking site such as Facebook or LinkedIn.
For detailed information about the specific Cookies we use on the Websites, please click on the “Your Privacy Choices/Cookies” link in our Website footer.
3. How Long Cookies Last
The Websites use both “session Cookies” and “persistent Cookies.” Session Cookies operate during the time you visit our Websites or until the end of a particular web browsing session. They expire and are automatically deleted when you close your browser. Persistent Cookies do not expire when you close your browser. They remain on your browser or device until the time they are set to expire (which varies by Cookie) or until you delete them (e.g., through your browser settings).
4. Third-Party Cookies
Some Cookies on the Websites are provided by third parties, and some of these third parties may use certain data collected via Cookies to provide us with their services and for other purposes, such as improving their own services. Such third parties include, for example, certain analytics providers that help us understand use of the Websites and measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns, and certain advertising technology partners (such as ad networks and ad servers) that help us serve online ads.
Among other analytics providers, Google Analytics helps us analyze how our Websites are used. For example, by collecting and analyzing Website usage information through its Cookies, Google Analytics can tell us which pages our users view, which are most popular, what time of day our websites are visited, whether visitors have been to our websites before, what website referred the visitor to our websites, and other similar information.
5. Your Cookie Choices
You can manage what Cookies are set on your browser or device as listed below. Please keep in mind that if you disable certain Cookies, the Websites or certain features may not be available to you or may not function as intended.
