Security & Data Center
DocuSign is many times more secure than paper processes. We address security on many levels to ensure a completely tamperproof signing process:
Encryption
Only designated individuals can read
and sign DocuSign documents. Your documents are protected
at all times by sophisticated 128-bit AES encryption and a SHA1-based
MAC (message authentication code) algorithm.
Confidentiality
Your documents and signatures
are stored securely so only you and your recipients have
access to them. As a matter of policy, not even DocuSign operations
staff can access your unencrypted documents, and your documents
never leave our SAS 70 type II data center without encryption. Backups
also remain fully encrypted.
Unique Signatures
Signers create electronic
signatures which have the same legal significance as
their pen-and-ink signatures. Each e-signature includes a script signature,
a unique ID number, and encrypted elements which make it completely
secure and enforceable.
Security Audits
DocuSign has passed security
audits by some of the most demanding and selective companies
in the Fortune 50.
Authentication
Senders can select from several
levels of user authentication, including email authentication,
an access code, and ID check using a third-party ID verification
service. You may also use asserted authentication with
API/Embedded applications.
