DocuSign Names Former Citrix Systems and Compaq Computer Corporation Marketing Executive Doug Wheeler as Vice President of Marketing
Veteran marketing leader selected to help fuel DocuSign’s global market expansion and brand recognition in electronic signatures and electronic contract execution
SEATTLE (Sept 11, 2008) – DocuSign, the leading provider of electronic signature and electronic contract execution services, today announced that industry marketing veteran Doug Wheeler has been selected to serve as Vice President of Marketing. DocuSign, which has seen tremendous growth in the past year, recruited Wheeler to help fuel the company’s market expansion and brand recognition.
The opportunity to grow DocuSign as the defacto standard for electronic signatures attracted Wheeler to DocuSign. “In today’s challenging economy, our company stands out as a success since we offer our customers an easy-to-use service that integrates quickly with existing business processes,” said Wheeler. “It’s very exciting to join a company that is revolutionizing something as critical as the way that businesses get contracts signed and executed. There are billions of paper contracts executed annually for business purposes, and the impact we can make on business profitability by replacing paper with a fully secure electronic signature transaction is what attracted me to DocuSign.”
In the past year alone DocuSign, which recently surpassed the 14 million electronic signature event mark, has won the Innovation Showcase Award at TechWeb’s Software 2008 Conference and was selected by Gartner as a “Cool Vendor” for the second year in a row. By using DocuSign, industry heavyweights such as Expedia, LandAmerica Financial Group, RE/MAX, Worldspan/Travelport, Yamaha, and Fidelity National Real Estate Solutions, a division of Fidelity National Financial, Inc., are able to increase revenue and close deals faster, while at the same time dramatically lowering costs by using less paper and reducing overnight shipping charges.
“The reason DocuSign is experiencing such rapid growth is that our service drives immediate cost reductions and revenue acceleration for our customers,” said Matthew J. Schiltz, CEO and President, DocuSign. “Doug’s extensive marketing experience will help us leverage our product leadership in order to further accelerate our brand recognition and growth.”
Wheeler brings more than 22 years of marketing experience in working with both public and private companies including Seattle-based AdmitOne Security (formerly BioPassword) and was co-founder, president and chief executive officer at ScriptRx, Inc. Prior to ScriptRx, Wheeler served as the senior vice president of worldwide marketing for Citrix Systems. He also served as the vice president of corporate marketing and communications for Compaq Computer Corporation, Tandem Computer Corporation and Ungermann-Bass Networks.
Wheeler graduated from Harvard Business School’s Executive Business Management Program and previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from Purdue University. He also serves on the Corporate Board of Advisors for Purdue University’s School of Technology and was recently inducted into the Purdue University Distinguished Alumni.
