Worldspan Accelerates Contract Processing and Improves Customer Service with DocuSign

Global leader in travel technology services uses DocuSign Web-based electronic signature service to respond rapidly to industry changes, expand into new markets

SEATTLE, WA (May 21, 2007) –DocuSign, the leading Web-based electronic signature service, today announced that Worldspan, a leading global provider of online travel services, has been using DocuSign’s electronic signature technology to accelerate its contract signing process with over 800 suppliers and 11,000 travel agents worldwide. By replacing its outdated pen-and-paper/fax/overnight mail-based system for signing contracts with DocuSign, Worldspan has been able to streamline its global contract signing process as it expands its international customer base, and greatly reduce administrative time and costs.

“We work in a very fast-paced environment and we need the most advanced, easy to use technology to stay ahead of our competitors,” said Patrick Hochstein, Worldspan vice president, Account Management, North America. “Incorporating electronic signatures into our business processes was an easy decision to make since it allowed us to get signed contracts done faster and at a greatly reduced cost. DocuSign has also enabled us to promote members of our team to more customer-facing roles, reducing time spent on administrative work. We see real value in embracing and implementing advanced technology services like DocuSign’s electronic signatures to drive growth.”

Each month Worldspan obtains thousands of customer signatures on contracts and work orders electronically using DocuSign. Beforehand, contracts had to be printed and either faxed or sent via overnight courier service and then archived in paper-based files. This process was time-consuming, cumbersome and very expensive. In addition, shipping contracts all over the United States was a tremendous waste of staff time and productivity.

Worldspan also faced a major challenge that impacted all 2,700 of its US-based customers. All of the contracts that Worldspan had with its 2,700 customers had to be renegotiated very quickly. Unlike competitors who simply sent out generic contracts, DocuSign was able to help Worldspan easily amend and deliver the updated contracts electronically for signature within a 48-hour period. “That speed and flexibility is unprecedented. We didn’t have to touch anything,” said Hochstein. “DocuSign analyzed the situation, came in with a plan, and executed flawlessly. They went beyond the call of duty.”

“Worldspan is a great example of a smart, progressive company that has embraced web-based electronic signatures from DocuSign to grow revenue, eliminate costs and improve the performance of their company,” said Matthew J. Schiltz, CEO and President of DocuSign. “Using DocuSign has not only helped from a cost and efficiency perspective, it’s enabled Worldspan to redeploy employees to strengthen customer relationships. Worldspan has also benefited from being able to leverage DocuSign around the world to sign deals quickly with key customers and suppliers. We’ve helped grow their international business faster at a lower cost than would have been possible using traditional, costly, paper based services.”
