Sign Online Anytime, Anywhere
Enhancements to DocuSign interface make document signing easier than ever, add support for low-bandwidth connections
Seattle, WA August 07, 2005 - DocuSign, the leading online signing service, today announced enhancements to its document signing interface that make it easier for consumers with slower Internet connections, such as dial-up or cellular, to quickly and easily review and sign documents online. Despite the widespread availability of broadband, 61.3 million US web users, or 49 percent of the total, still rely on low-bandwidth connections for Internet access, according to published Nielson//NetRatings’ research.
The new interface enhancements, available now at DocuSign.com, are especially important for DocuSign users such as real estate agents and mortgage brokers who routinely need individuals to sign legal contracts, letters of intent, listing agreements and loan applications. As online signing becomes more widely accepted in all types of business to consumer transactions, low-bandwidth connection support has become an increasingly important requirement.
“In our part of the country, many of our clients have dial-up web access,” said Malik Rashid, a RE/MAX agent in Bethesda, Md. “The enhancements DocuSign has made it its interface ensure that all our clients can take advantage of the speed, security and convenience of online signing. It also helps people when then are traveling since they can sign documents anywhere they have a computer with a web browser and phone line or a cell phone with data access.”
Since its inception, DocuSign has continually made improvements in its user interface to make the online signing experience as simple as point and click while maintaining state-of-the-art security behind the scenes. The latest interface adds informative thumbnail representations of all the pages in a document along the left side of the screen. To ease navigation, large arrows point to the pages that require signatures or initials. The icons change as pages are signed in appropriate locations.
Using the new interface, anyone signing a document only needs a standard web browser and a basic internet connection. A number of improvements in the way documents are loaded on the client machine decrease bandwidth requirements while further enhancing the signing experience.
“The key to our success and rapid growth is ease of use,” said Tom Gonser, Vice President of Product Strategy for DocuSign. “We are continuing to enhance all aspects of our user interface while making online signing available to as many people across the country as possible, including the 61 million people using slower web connections.”
