Sunco Tanning Beds is the nation’s largest distributor of commercial and residential tanning beds. Based in Church Hill, Tennessee for 21 years, the company specializes in Wolff brand beds, tanning lamps and accessories.

 

CHALLENGE arrow


As a national distributor, Sunco’s customers completed a sales and financing application over the phone or online, which was then submitted to Sunco’s in-house financing for approval. Once approved, Sunco sent sales contracts to the customer for signature via overnight courier. This paper sales process often resulted in customers not returning their contracts, changing their minds, or having time to shop competitors. As a result of this process, Sunco’s sales close rates were 45-50 percent.

 

SOLUTION arrow


Sunco began using DocuSign’s web-based e-signature solution to automate the sales process and eliminate the need for paper contracts. Using DocuSign, the entire sales and financing process can now be completed online in minutes rather than days.

“In the past, we would lose a large number of customers because of the delays in the receiving of signed purchase contracts back in the mail,” said Todd Young, General Manager, Sunco. “Now we can close deals right on the phone. DocuSign is so easy to use, our sales people love it and so do our customers.”

 

RESULTS arrow


In the first six months of use, Sunco has seen sales grow by $4.5 million dollars and increased its sales close rates to 85 percent. Additionally, Sunco has reduced paper, ink and courier costs by 90 percent, significantly reducing its overhead. Due to these results, the company is phasing out all paper-based sales applications and sales contracts.

“We have completely transformed our sales and financing processes and, as a result, have significantly increased revenue and improved our ability to service our customer’s needs more efficiently,” says Young. “Additionally, we are greatly reducing our use of paper and fuel which has a positive impact on the environment. Overall, we couldn’t be happier.”
